Drift Junior Open 2023

The Drift was proud to host our Junior Open on Wednesday 25th of October. A field of 43 turned out, with handicaps ranging from +1 to 36. With prizes for both gross and nett scores, everyone in the field had a chance of taking home the top prize of a Bushnell range finder.

The amazing scoring would suggest that the course was in perfect shape and special mention has to go to the overall gross winner Max Gibbs, who started his round with four birdies in the first five holes, carding seven in total and finishing on five under par – amazing golf.

William Virgo also had a brilliant day on the greens, shooting a nett 62, 10 under his handicap – a sign of things to come I’m sure.

Other notable mentions go to the five girls that teed it up alongside the boys: Georgia, Grace, Ari, Eli and Jess, James Bradnum who got the only eagle of the day, and both Isaac Scott and Henry Willis who were playing in their first ever competitions.

The field in 2022 was 26 players, so to see an increase of 60% is very pleasing for everyone at the Drift, and we are aiming for closer to 70 in next years edition!
